About Hochschule Reutlingen

During my placement year with Sheffield Hallam, I travelled to Germany to study and work. During this year, I spent a semester at Hochschule Reutlingen studying new areas I otherwise would not have had the chance to at my home university.

Skills acquired

These new skills I was able to acquire included:

• Working with IBM's Bluemix cloud platform to create applications using cloud computing

• Node.js development alongside MongoDB to create RESTful API's, eventually leading to a project where I designed a collaborative live Spotify 'radio'

• OpenGL development using additional GLUT libraries, along with modelling within Autodesk 3DS Max, to create and render a complex 3D object

• Learning Android development with Android Studio, where we covered the lifecycle of Android applications and independently created an app to assign and track chores within a household

• Introductory networking concepts, covering areas such as Bluetooth connectivity, cellular networking, and introductory networking concepts for data centres
